Product description
Originating from France in the sun drenched Provence region, specifically within the prestigious Bandol subregion, Domaine Tempier Cuvee Classique represents the benchmark for Mediterranean red winemaking. The historic farm has been active since 1834, but its modern legacy began in 1936 when it was gifted to Lucie 'Lulu' Tempier and Lucien Peyraud. Driven by Lucien’s passion for reviving the noble Mourvedre grape and establishing the Bandol appellation, Domaine Tempier crafted a reputation for producing terroir-driven, organic wines from diverse clay-limestone parcels across the region.
Wine Description
The wine displays a deep ruby red colour with dark purple undertones. The bouquet reveals complex aromas of dark blackberry, Marasca cherry, and plum, interwoven with distinct Provencal garrigue, olive tapenade, leather, and subtle baking spices. On the palate, it is full bodied, showing rich flavours of black currant, cocoa, cracked black pepper, and crushed stone supported by a core of fresh natural acidity. Composed predominantly of Mourvedre blended with Grenache, Cinsault, Carignan, and Syrah, this structured release offers an optimal drinking window of 2026–2042. Stylistically, it combines intense concentration and dark fruit depth with rustic minerality, structural power, and remarkable finesse.
