Product description
Fat Tug IPA is the legendary flagship from Driftwood Brewery in Victoria, British Columbia. Since its release in 2010, it has become a cult icon and one of the most highly awarded beers in Canadian history. It is widely considered the gold standard for the Northwest-style IPA, known for its uncompromising hop intensity and its ability to maintain a dedicated following among hop heads across Western Canada.
Beer Description
This Northwest-style IPA pours a beautiful, slightly hazy deep gold to amber color with a thick, long-lasting white head that leaves significant lacing.
Aroma: It features an intense and complex hop bouquet. Expect a heavy punch of zesty grapefruit and resinous pine, layered with tropical notes of mango, melon, and passionfruit.
Palate: The flavor is a massive wave of hops supported by a sturdy malt backbone. It delivers aggressive citrus and tropical fruit flavors followed by a deep, resinous bitterness. Despite its strength, it remains remarkably balanced with a smooth, medium body and a dry, lingering finish.
Profile: It has a robust ABV of 7.0% and an IBU of 80+, placing it at the high end of the scale for bitterness and flavor intensity.
Technical Notes: Brewed with an excessive amount of hops throughout the boil and dry-hopping stages. The recipe focuses on bio-modification and yeast-hop interaction to pull out a unique, multi-dimensional aromatic profile that evolves as the beer warms.
