Dry Creek Vineyard Spencer's Hill Petite Sirah 2019 is a robust red wine from the Dry Creek Valley AVA in Sonoma County, United States. Founded in 1972 by David S. Stare, Dry Creek Vineyard was the first new winery built in the region following Prohibition and was instrumental in securing AVA status for the Dry Creek Valley in 1983. The winery's philosophy emphasizes a 'no compromises' approach, focusing on appellation-driven and terroir-focused wines crafted with minimal intervention. Under the second-generation leadership of Kim Stare Wallace, the estate has maintained a long-term commitment to sustainability, becoming 100% Certified Sustainable in 2014.
Wine Description
This full-bodied wine displays a strikingly intense profile and deep, inky colour. The sensory profile features a complex bouquet of blackberry, black cherry, and plum, layered with nuanced aromas of nutmeg, marzipan, and fine leather. On the palate, the wine is dry and opulent, offering concentrated flavours of black currant, cinnamon, and dark chocolate, alongside notes of pie crust and dried herbs. It possesses a deep and rich mouthfeel with firm, well-integrated tannins and a long, lingering finish. This wine is crafted from 100% Petite Sirah grapes sourced from the iconic DCV9 estate vineyard in the Lytton Springs district. It was aged for 17 months in a combination of American and French oak barrels, with 32% new oak used to enhance its complexity.
