Product description

This vibrant and complex white wine originates from the United States, specifically from the premier Napa Valley region in California. Founded in 1976 by Dan and Margaret Duckhorn, Duckhorn Vineyards has established itself as an iconic producer with a focus on blending fruit from both estate vineyards and independent growers to achieve a consistent house style. The winemaking philosophy for this Chardonnay, led by winemaker Renée Ary, emphasizes a "terroir-driven" approach, utilizing site-specific fruit to capture a "sublime example" of the Napa Valley floor and its cooler coastal influences.

Wine Description

Duckhorn Chardonnay 2023 presents a brilliant straw yellow appearance. The sensory profile is highly aromatic and "inviting," featuring a nose of ripe pear, fresh lemongrass, and a delicate touch of ginger. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied and "silky," showcasing vibrant layers of citrus, white peach, and creamy crème brûlée underpinned by a subtle hint of salinity. It is characterized by its balanced complexity, a round mouthfeel with notes of vanilla and butter, and a long, juicy finish. This 100% Chardonnay reached an ABV of 14.1% and was matured for 9 months in 100% French oak using a mix of 40% new, 30% second-use, and 30% neutral barrels. While the estate follows sustainable viticulture, this specific bottling is not certified organic.
