Duckhorn Merlot presents a deep ruby colour with an inviting and sophisticated profile. The sensory profile features luxurious aromas of crushed black cherries, plums, and raspberries on the nose, layered with subtle undertones of cedar, sweet tobacco, and orange peel. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied and "silky," showcasing flavours of ripe plum jam, chocolate, and blueberry underscored by baking spices like clove and a hint of pencil lead. It is characterized by fine-grained, firm tannins and a balanced acidity that provides a long, elegant finish. This blend typically includes small percentages of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc to enhance structure, reaching an ABV of 14.5%. While the estate is a leader in sustainability and utilizes organic fertilizers, this specific bottling is not certified organic.
