Product description
Elevación 1250 Tequila Añejo Rosa Fuerte is a highly unique, ultra-premium expression within the additive-free tequila landscape. The brand was founded by Todd Hummel and is named after the exact elevation of the distillery where it is produced: 1,250 meters above sea level in Amatitán, Jalisco. It is crafted at the renowned NOM 1522 (La Hacienda de Oro) under the precise direction of celebrated third-generation female Master Distiller Iliana Partida.
The "Rosa Fuerte" designation represents a rare crossover: a high-proof, aged tequila finished in premium wine barrels to inherit an incredibly distinct color and flavor profile.
Spirit Description
True to Iliana Partida’s traditional standards, the production starts with sustainably grown 100% Blue Weber agave from the lowlands (Valle). The agaves are cooked in high-pressure autoclaves to extract pure, intensely concentrated sugars, crushed using a roller mill, and subjected to natural, open-air fermentation.
Following double distillation, the tequila undergoes a beautiful metamorphosis: it is aged for 14 months in premier, first-fill French Oak Cabernet Sauvignon wine barrels sourced from Napa Valley. It is bottled Fuerte (high proof) rather than diluted down to standard proof.
Appearance: A gorgeous, natural ruby-crimson or deep rosé hue drawn entirely from the Napa red wine wood.
Aroma: A powerful combination of caramelized cooked agave, bright red berries (raspberries, cherries), a touch of dry red wine tannins, black pepper, and warm vanilla bean.
Palate: Intense and chewy. The higher ABV carries a robust wave of roasted agave sweetness alongside complex orchard fruits, redcurrants, and a velvety, buttery texture. Dark chocolate and light oak spice build across the mid-palate.
Finish: Long, warm, and remarkably clean, balancing a lingering, spicy pepper kick with the natural sweetness of cooked agave.
ABV: Typically bottled at a high-proof "Fuerte" range (around 45% to 50% ABV).
Accolades
While Elevación 1250’s core lines (the Blanco and Reposado) are widely celebrated as hidden gems in Canada and select US markets for their traditional, additive-free profiles, the Añejo Rosa Fuerte has achieved cult-tier status among tequila connoisseurs. It is highly lauded by tequila educational platforms and review channels (such as Tasting Tequila with Brad) as a masterclass in how to use red wine cask finishes without smothering the natural agave character.
Food Pairing
The marriage of rich, high-proof agave and French oak wine tannins makes this bottle an elite companion for rich food pairings:
Savoury: Its robust body pairs wonderfully with a grilled ribeye steak with a berry-reduction glaze, slow-braised duck carnitas, or barbecued pork ribs.
Cheese: Match it against aged gouda, Manchego, or creamy blue cheeses where the spirit's bright acidity and proof can slice beautifully through the fat.
Dessert: Absolutely spectacular alongside a dark chocolate lava cake, artisan raspberry tarts, or premium vanilla bean panna cotta.
