Product description
Erdinger Weissbier (often called Erdinger Weißbier mit feiner Hefe) is the flagship wheat beer from Erdinger Weißbräu, the largest family-owned wheat beer brewery in the world. Brewed in Erding, Bavaria since 1886, it is an international benchmark for the classic Bavarian Hefeweizen style. Renowned for its gentle, elegant balance, Erdinger crafts a slightly milder, more refined wheat beer profile compared to some of its punchier, clove-heavy Bavarian neighbors, making it one of the most widely enjoyed and approachable German wheat beers globally.
Beer Description
Erdinger Weissbier pours a luminous, glowing golden-amber color with a characteristic cloudy haze from suspended fine yeast, crowned by a massive, towering, snow-white foam head that boasts incredible retention.
Aroma: The nose is soft, fresh, and inviting. It opens with gentle notes of ripe banana and sweet wheat malt, accompanied by top notes of fresh bread dough, subtle clove spice, and a light floral citrus whisper.
Palate: On the tongue, it is medium-bodied with a velvety, smooth, and gently effervescent mouthfeel. It leads with a delicate wave of bananas and cream, crackered wheat, and subtle honey, shifting into a balanced mid-palate marked by a mild clove bite. The finish is clean, crisp, and harmonious, leaving a refreshing grain character and soft yeast texture without any lingering bitterness.
Profile: It sits at an authentic 5.3% ABV and a mild bitterness of approx. 13 IBU, prioritizing wheat smoothness and delicate fermentation esters over aggressive hop presence.
Technical Notes: Brewed according to the Bavarian Reinheitsgebot, Erdinger Weissbier utilizes fine wheat and barley malts, soft local well water, and Hallertau hops. What distinguishes Erdinger technically is its traditional Bayerische Edelreifung (double maturity process). After primary fermentation, the beer is bottle- and keg-conditioned with fresh wort and fine yeast, allowing a secondary fermentation to occur directly inside the package over three to four weeks for maximum natural carbonation and depth.
