Afternoon Delight is the lighter, more "sessionable" sibling to Sky Rocket, crafted by Calgary’s The Establishment Brewing Company. While it carries the same pedigree as their award-winning IPAs, it is designed for maximum "drinkability" without sacrificing the complex hop aromatics the brewery is known for. It’s a New England Style Pale Ale (NEPA) that serves as the perfect mid-day refresher, delivering all the tropical "juice" of a heavy hitter but in a more nimble, lower-alcohol frame.

Beer Description

This Pale Ale pours a characteristic glowing, opaque straw-yellow, looking very much like a glass of fresh-squeezed grapefruit juice with a soft, billowy white head.

Aroma: The nose is bright, breezy, and incredibly fruit-forward. Expect a vibrant bouquet of lemon zest, white grape, and crushed pineapple, followed by a subtle, floral hint of elderflower. It has a "green" and fresh quality that feels incredibly light and inviting.

Palate: On the tongue, it is light-to-medium bodied with a remarkably soft, "fluffy" mouthfeel. It leads with a delicate, crackery malt base that provides just enough structure to support a burst of citrus and stone fruit flavors. The finish is clean and slightly dry, with a gentle, rounded bitterness that disappears quickly, making it effortless to keep drinking.

Profile: It has a very accessible ABV of 5.4% and low perceived bitterness, prioritizing "crushability" over intensity.

Technical Notes: To achieve its signature texture at a lower gravity, Establishment uses a high proportion of wheat and oats. It is heavily dry-hopped with a focus on Citra and Simcoe, but often features a rotating "guest" hop to keep the profile fresh and exciting. Like their other hazy offerings, it is unfiltered and processed with extreme care to preserve the delicate, volatile hop oils.
