Evesham Wood Pinot Noir Le Puits Sec 2019
Evesham Wood was founded by Russ Raney in 1986 after training with the legendary Henri Jayer in Vosne-Romanée. The style of Evesham Wood has always been one of purity and precision. The winery expresses its core “small is beautiful” philosophy by obtaining optimally ripe low-yield fruit from the best possible distinct sites in the Willamette Valley, and then using minimal intervention in the winemaking process. Evesham Wood’s wines exemplify the finest traits of Pinot Noir: grace, complexity, silkiness, and supple tannins. They are powerful without a sense of heaviness, bursting with energy and drive. They represent the essence of great Willamette Valley Pinot Noir, telling the story of where they were grown and who made them in a clear, authentic way.
What a gorgeous wine. The nose jumps out of the glass with concentrated aromas of plum, violet and berries. That lift and concentration carries through as the mixed berries become even more concentrated while beautifully balanced bright acidity leads to moderate tannins on the finish.
