Product description

This structured and 'approachable' red wine originates from France, within the sunny, wind-swept growing regions of the Southern Rhône Valley. Produced by Famille Perrin; the world-renowned winemaking family behind the legendary Château de Beaucastel in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, 'Rascal' (often produced under the Les Christins or Nature regional range depending on market allocation) is a playful, high-value cuvée designed to showcase pure Southern Rhône character. Sourced from sustainably farmed vineyard parcels rooted in gravelly alluvial soils, clay, and limestone, the vines thrive under the classic Mediterranean climate. Intense daytime sunshine is tempered by cool nighttime air and the drying influence of the Mistral wind, allowing traditional Rhône grapes to accumulate generous fruit depth while preserving a bright, mouthwatering natural acidity.

Wine Description

The Famille Perrin Rascal Rouge presents a deep, luminous garnet-ruby color in the glass with bright crimson and magenta highlights along the rim. Its sensory profile is exceptionally fresh, high-toned, and fruit-forward, delivering an energetic, juicy, and expressive portrait of Southern Rhône terroir. The bouquet opens with a soaring display of ripe crushed blackberries, wild red cherries, and black plums, seamlessly layered with subtle underlays of dried garrigue herbs (thyme, rosemary), sweet baking spices, black pepper, and a clean line of crushed stone minerality. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, supple, and smooth, showcasing a succulent core of dark berry compote, blood orange zest, and cocoa powder. It is characterized by its balanced energy and an incisive, mouthwatering backbone of natural acidity that maintains freshness across the mid-palate. The mouthfeel is broad, silky, and weightless, framed by soft, rounded tannins that glide into a long, dry, and pleasingly spicy finish accented by notes of cherry skin, black pepper, and Mediterranean herbs.
