Product description

This intriguing red wine hails from Italy, produced within the IGT Terre Siciliane appellation on the sun-drenched island region of Sicily. Crafted by the Fondo Antico winery based in the Trapani area, the estate dedicates this specific bottling to Sicily and its rich viticultural heritage. The family operates under a winemaking philosophy that seeks to revive and celebrate historic indigenous varieties, positioning this wine as a versatile, everyday companion meant to bring people together in any occasion.

Wine Description

  • Colour: Beautiful ruby red colour.

  • Aroma: The nose opens gracefully with fine notes of Mediterranean herbs, wild red berries, and ripe cherries, punctuated by subtle hints of spice, black pepper, and a touch of wild smokiness.

  • Palate: Soft, smooth, and enveloping on the palate, showing an approachable core of red fruit flavours integrated with a delicate balsamic touch and a light, earthy grip.

  • Body: Medium-bodied with a pleasantly supple, well-rounded structure.

  • Finish: A balanced and persistent finish that carries a distinct streak of maritime sapidity.

  • Varietal Composition: 100% Perricone, an ancient and historically overlooked native Sicilian grape variety that has been joyfully rediscovered by the estate.

  • Stylistic Notes: Strikingly fresh and balanced, the wine undergoes controlled-temperature maceration on the skins for 10 to 12 days in stainless steel vats. It is subsequently aged entirely in stainless steel tanks and bottle to preserve its vibrant fruit profile and territorial character.

  • Alcohol by Volume: 13.5%

  • Organic Status: Not certified organic, but farmed with a deep respect for local agricultural traditions.

Food Pairing

  • Game dishes and assorted roasted or grilled meats.

  • Traditional Mediterranean cuisine featuring cooked vegetables or savory baked pasta.

  • Surprisingly versatile, it can also accompany rich, oily fish preparations seasoned with regional herbs.
