Foris Vineyards, established in 1976 by Ted Gerber, is a pioneer of this "alpine" region, situated at high elevations (1,500 feet) near the Siskiyou Mountains. The winery is celebrated for producing high-value, estate-grown wines—particularly Pinot Noir and Alsace-style whites—that reflect the cooler microclimate of the Illinois Valley sub-region.
Wine Description
The Foris Rogue Valley Pinot Noir is known for being a riper, more "voluptuous" alternative to its cousins in the Willamette Valley, while maintaining excellent balance.

Appearance: A clear, vibrant ruby-red.

Nose: Highly aromatic with a mixture of red and black fruit, including ripe cherry, black plum, and blueberry. It is often accented by complex notes of violets, rose petals, and brown spices (anise, cinnamon, and ginger).

Palate: Medium-bodied and supple. It typically offers a core of black cherry liqueur and red currant, layered with nuances of white pepper, mocha, and a hint of salted caramel. The tannins are smooth and the acidity is zesty, providing a structured yet approachable framework.

Technical Details: 100% Pinot Noir, predominantly from the Cedar Ranch and Maple Ranch estate vineyards. It is usually aged for 10 months in French oak.
