Deep garnet-purple in colour, it bursts with flamboyant notes of redcurrant preserves, cassis, dark chocolate, violets and red roses, plus fragrant hints of Indian spices and camphor, with a suggestion of iron ore. The medium to full-bodied palate is fabulously velvety, delivering beautiful freshness and loads of spicy layers, finishing very long.
This wine is dark and brooding, a wine of elegance, fine and structured tannins, and basically the wine equivalent of a Wagner piece on a stormy night after unexpectedly making an enormous sum of money. In other words, it is fucking pure magic with rock bloody solid complexity on a very high level.
Sourced from small, family vineyards, (in some cases for 3-4 generations) that are farmed with great care and attention. Made in very small amounts and combined from blocks of vineyards where they make a perfect combination of power, complexity and layers that give the wine incredible character and elegance.
96 Points - Jeb Dunnuck
Coming from two vineyards, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon The Dreamer sports a vivid purple hue to go with beautiful aromatics of darker currants, ripe cranberries, leafy tobacco, and spring flowers. I love its balance, it's medium to full-bodied, has gorgeous tannins, and a great finish.
95 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
A blend of two undisclosed vineyards, Fortunate Son's 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon The Dreamer is darker, richer and warmer than the 2018 version, yet still balanced, delivering ripe black cherries, loamy earth and dried spices. It's medium to full-bodied, softly dusty and long on the finish.
