Product description

This structured and 'crystalline' red wine originates from Italy, within the esteemed Langhe D.O.C. appellation of Piedmont's iconic hills. Gian Luca Colombo, recipient of the prestigious Premio Gambelli in 2014 as Italy's best young winemaker, crafts this exceptional wine under his Segni di Langa project based in Roddi. Operating under a low-intervention, artisanal, and organic-leaning winemaking philosophy, Colombo is celebrated for capturing pure varietal identity and terroir expression with his personal touch (each bottle bearing his fingerprint on the label). Sourced from old Nebbiolo vineyards situated across the rolling hills of the Langhe, the vines are rooted in Tortonian soils rich in calcareous marl, sand, and limestone. The distinct microclimate characterized by warm, sun-drenched summer days balanced by cool evening breezes descending from the Alps allows Nebbiolo to achieve complete phenolic maturity while preserving bright, mouthwatering natural acidity and fine, silky tannins.

Wine Description

Gian Luca Colombo-Segni di Langa Langhe Nebbiolo presents a luminous, pale ruby-red color in the glass with bright garnet shimmers at the rim. Its sensory profile is exceptionally fresh, high-toned, and complex, delivering an artisanal, highly energetic expression of Piedmont's noble grape. The bouquet opens with a captivating, perfumed display of wild berries, tart red cherries, and crushed cranberries, seamlessly layered with delicate floral undertones of wilted rose petals, violet lift, forest floor, and subtle hints of sweet cinnamon bark and crushed limestone minerality. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, sleek, and precisely focused, showcasing a vibrant, succulent core of pure stone fruits, blood orange zest, and herbal nuances. It is characterized by its outstanding inner energy and an incisive, mouthwatering backbone of natural acidity that drives a vertical, deep development. The mouthfeel is weightless, athletic, and supple, framed by fine-grained, silky Nebbiolo tannins that glide smoothly across the palate into a long, dry, and mineral-accented finish.
