Product description
Giffard Caramel Toffee (often featured as Crème de Caramel au Beurre Salé or Caramel Toffee Liqueur) is a specialty French liqueur produced by Giffard in Angers, Loire Valley, France. Founded in 1885 by Emile Giffard, the family-owned company is globally renowned for crafting premium liqueurs and syrups using natural ingredients and traditional maceration techniques. The Caramel Toffee expression offers a luxurious blend of caramelized sugar, rich butter, and a touch of sea salt, creating a rich, indulgent profile designed for elevated mixology and dessert pairings.
2. Liqueur Description
Giffard Caramel Toffee is crafted using pure sugar beet caramel, fresh cream, butter, and natural flavorings, balanced with a subtle hint of sea salt (referencing classic Breton salted butter caramel). The ingredients are blended into a stable, velvety liqueur base without artificial preservatives. The result is an intensely flavorful, dessert-like spirit that delivers the warmth of cooked sugar alongside creamy, buttery richness and a balancing savory edge.
Colour: Deep golden amber with rich copper and caramel highlights.
Aroma: Intensely aromatic and rich, opening with warm caramelized sugar, butterscotch, and melted toffee, followed by hints of cooked cream, vanilla, and sweet roasted nuts.
Palate: Luxurious, sweet, and coating on the entry. Upfront flavors of dark caramel, buttery toffee, and dulce de leche yield to a subtle hint of sea salt, vanilla cream, and toasted sugar.
Body: Full-bodied with a rich, velvety, and mouth-coating viscosity.
Finish: Long, warm, and decadent, trailing off with persistent notes of sweet butterscotch, salted caramel, and a gentle creaminess.
ABV: Bottled at 18% ABV (36 Proof).
