Product description

Glen Elgin 16 Year Old 2006 is a single malt Scotch whisky from the Speyside region of Scotland, specifically hailing from the often-overlooked Glen Elgin distillery near the town of Elgin. Established in 1898 and designed by the famous distillery architect Charles Doig, the distillery is currently owned by Diageo. Glen Elgin is celebrated for its traditional winemaking-style attention to detail, utilizing long fermentations and slow distillation to produce a distinctively lush, fruity character that has long been a core component of White Horse blends.

Whisky Description

This 16 year old expression, independently bottled by Master of Malt, presents a rich and balanced sensory profile resulting from its maturation in a refill hogshead. The nose offers a sweet welcome of toffee pennies, warm caramel, and buttery shortbread, evolving into notes of creamy oak and green banana. On the palate, the whisky is soft and supple, featuring luscious layers of fudge, grilled pineapple, and a gentle ginger warmth, alongside hints of chocolate-dipped berries and condensed milk. The body is characteristically fruity and waxy, leading to a finish marked by cherry chocolate, butterscotch, and a lingering, characterful spice. Bottled at 51% ABV without chill filtration or added colour, it maintains the distillery's signature honeyed and citrus-forward style.
