Introduction
The GlenDronach 12 Year Old is a classic Highland single malt Scotch whisky produced at the GlenDronach Distillery near Huntly, Aberdeenshire. Founded in 1826 by James Allardice, it is one of Scotland's oldest licensed distilleries and is currently owned by Brown-Forman. This expression is renowned for its traditional sherry cask maturation, a signature style that the distillery has maintained for nearly two centuries.
Spirit Description
This 'Sherry Cask Highland Single Malt' is matured for at least 12 years in a combination of the finest Spanish Pedro Ximenez and Oloroso sherry casks. It is bottled at its natural colour without the use of chill filtration.
Colour: The whisky displays a deep, sparkling amber red gold hue.
Aroma: The nose is sweet and creamy, featuring notes of autumn fruits, ginger, and spiced mulled wine, complemented by hints of pear and vanilla.
Palate: It offers a rich, silken, and buttery mouthfeel with flavours of sun dried raisins, soft fruits, and oaky tannins, balanced by spicy ginger and honeyed sweetness.
Body: The spirit is full bodied and opulent, providing a well rounded and concentrated texture.
Finish: It concludes with a long, full, and firm finish that is slightly nutty with lingering notes of spice and dried fruit.
ABV: The GlenDronach 12 Year Old is bottled at 43%.
