Product description
Glenfarclas Family Cask 2005 (Summer Release 2024) hails from the Speyside region of Scotland, crafted at the historic Glenfarclas Distillery in Ballindalloch. Established in 1836 and still owned by the Grant family, Glenfarclas is renowned for its dedication to traditional methods, including direct-fired stills and exclusive use of high-quality sherry casks. This family-run operation has built a reputation for producing rich, complex single malts that showcase the unique character of Speyside.
Wine Description
This 18-year-old single malt presents a deep amber colour with a rich, oily viscosity. The nose is layered with aromas of dried fruits such as raisins and red berries, enhanced by delicate floral notes of rose and the sweetness of caramel and figs. On the palate, it delivers concentrated sherry-driven richness, unfolding flavours of dark chocolate, cocoa, pickled ginger, and perfumed spices, underpinned by a gentle fattiness that adds luxurious mouthfeel. The finish is long and warming, leaving lingering impressions of spice and dried fruit sweetness.
Food Pairing
Perfect with rich desserts such as dark chocolate tart or sticky toffee pudding, where the whisky’s sweetness harmonises with the dish, or with savoury pairings like roasted game accompanied by a red wine reduction, allowing the spirit’s spice and sherry depth to enhance the meat’s complexity. Together, these pairings create an unforgettable dining experience.
