The Glenlivet 12 Year Old Provence Cask Finish is a travel-retail and regional limited-edition single malt Scotch whisky produced by The Glenlivet Distillery in Ballindalloch, Speyside, Scotland. Owned by Chivas Brothers (Pernod Ricard), The Glenlivet is renowned for pioneering Speyside's classic, floral, and orchard-fruit-driven single malt style. Building upon their signature 12-year-old malt foundation, the Provence Cask Finish introduces an artisanal cask finish using oak casks previously holding rosé or fortified wines from the sun-drenched Provence region in Southern France, blending Scottish single malt heritage with Mediterranean floral and stone-fruit nuances.
Spirit Description
The Glenlivet 12 Year Old Provence Cask starts with classic Speyside single malt distillate made from 100% malted barley and pure water from Josie's Well, distilled in tall, lantern-shaped copper pot stills that encourage light, ester-rich aromatics. The whisky undergoes its primary maturation for 12 years in traditional European and American oak casks before being finished for a select period in French oak casks sourced from the Provence region. This secondary aging imparts delicate pink floral notes, bright red berry brightness, and soft lavender-herbal undertones to the whisky's signature apple and pear core.
Colour: Pale copper-gold with soft rosé pink reflections.
Aroma: Bright, elegant, and floral. Opens with white peach, fresh strawberries, and redcurrant, layered with delicate lavender, lavender honey, fresh vanilla bean, and toasted brioche.
Palate: Smooth, silky, and fruit-forward on the entry. Upfront flavors of summer berries, ripe nectarine, and candied citrus peel give way to blossom honey, soft oak tannins, and a gentle herbal complexity.
Body: Light-to-medium-bodied with a soft, rounded, and elegant mouthfeel.
Finish: Crisp, clean, and medium in length, trailing off with lingering red berry brightness, subtle floral perfume, sweet vanilla, and a dry, refreshing oak snap.
ABV: Bottled at 40% ABV (80 Proof).
