Glenmorangie Signet Reserve is an ultra-prestige single malt Scotch whisky produced by The Glenmorangie Distillery in Tain, Ross-shire, Northern Highlands (Moët Hennessy). Building on the iconic legacy of the original Glenmorangie Signet celebrated for its revolutionary use of heavily roasted "chocolate malt" Signet Reserve represents a heightened, deeper, and more mature evolution of this pioneering recipe. Created under the direction of Glenmorangie’s Director of Whisky Creation, Dr. Bill Lumsden, Signet Reserve spends extended time finishing in specially selected Pedro Ximénez (PX) sherry casks, layering luscious dark sweetness, espresso complexity, and intense dark chocolate depth over the signature malt profile.

Spirit Description

Signet Reserve’s mash bill features Glenmorangie’s proprietary high-roast chocolate malted barley, malted once a year to unlock roasted coffee and rich cacao aromatics. Distilled in Glenmorangie’s famous 16-foot-tall copper pot stills (the tallest in Scotland), the delicate, ester-rich spirit matures in bespoke toasted American virgin oak barrels alongside aged ex-bourbon casks. For the Reserve release, Dr. Lumsden selected parcels of this aged liquid for an extended secondary maturation in rich Pedro Ximénez sherry casks, imparting an unctuous, syrupy dark-fruit richness.

• Colour: Deep burnished copper and dark amber with rich mahogany reflections.

• Aroma: Intensely aromatic, opulent, and dessert-like. Opens with bold roasted espresso, tiramisu, and 85% dark chocolate, layered with candied orange peel, PX sherry-soaked raisins, roasted hazelnuts, and warm baking spices (cinnamon, clove, and nutmeg).

• Palate: Luxuriously rich, velvety, and multi-dimensional on the entry. Deep mocha and bitter dark cocoa meld into sweet black cherries, dried figs, and toffee, followed by gentle leather, toasted oak, and sweet tobacco notes.

• Body: Full-bodied with a heavy, coating, and viscous mouthfeel.

• Finish: Exceptionally long, warm, and decadent, trailing off with persistent roasted coffee bean, dark chocolate truffles, dried fruit sweetness, and lingering oak spices.

• ABV: Bottled at 46% ABV, non-chill filtered.
