Introduction

Gray Monk Odyssey Cabernet Franc 2021 is a premium red wine from the Lake Country sub-appellation in the Okanagan Valley of British Columbia, Canada. Established in 1972 by George and Trudy Heiss, Gray Monk Estate Winery is a pioneer of the BC wine industry and was the first to plant Pinot Gris in Canada. The Odyssey series represents the winery's pinnacle collection, featuring wines crafted with hand-selected fruit, extended hang time on the vine, and 12–24 months of barrel aging to build significant complexity and character.

Wine Description

This full-bodied Cabernet Franc presents a bright garnet hue and a complex sensory profile. The nose opens with intense aromas of blackberry, black currant, and chocolate, complemented by subtle under notes of oak. On the palate, the wine is robust and well-structured, featuring ripe fruit flavours of dark plum and black cherry accented by notes of black tea and sweet spice. It is characterized by soft, delicate tannins and a balanced acidity that provides a polished mouthfeel. While this vintage shows immediate appeal, it has a cellaring potential through 2029.
