This wine comes from Italy, within Tuscany's renowned Bolgheri region. Tenuta Guado al Tasso is owned by the historic Marchesi Antinori family, who have cultivated vines on this estate surrounded by the scenic Bolgheri Amphitheatre since the late 19th century. The winemaking philosophy focuses on capturing the unique coastal terroir and producing world-class expressions that marry Italian elegance with Bordeaux-style sophistication.
Wine Description
This intense ruby red wine offers rich aromas of red berries, fresh plum, and floral accents, intertwined with notes of graphite, licorice root, tobacco, and subtle sweet spices. On the palate, it exhibits a full body with a savory, silky texture, vibrant acidity, and refined, polished tannins that provide exceptional balance and dimension. The finish is remarkably long and fresh with complex lingering hints of dark cocoa and delicate herbs. The varietal composition consists of 44% Cabernet Sauvignon, 31% Cabernet Franc, and 25% Merlot. It has an alcohol content of 14% ABV and is not certified organic.
Vintage Quality
The 2022 growing season in Bolgheri experienced dry conditions and warm summer temperatures that led to smaller berry sizes and lower overall yields. Timely August rain showers refreshed the vines, allowing the winemaker to expertly adjust the blend by increasing the proportion of Cabernet Franc for added freshness and structure, resulting in a balanced, highly expressive vintage.
