Introduction

Japan, Okinawa, Nago City. Founded in 1961 by Tadashi Matsuda, Helios Distillery originally focused on rum and awamori production before expanding into whisky in the late 1990s. The distillery is situated in the northern area of Okinawa and is known for emphasizing the preservation of the island's natural environment and resources in its production processes.

Description

This pure malt whisky features a pale gold, straw-like colour. The aromatic profile is complex and sophisticated, highlighting heather honey and yuzu citrus blended with floral notes, toasted oak, and a touch of moss. On the palate, it delivers a smooth and creamy texture with flavours of butterscotch and vanilla joined by Japanese citrus notes, brown sugar, and a hint of lime marmalade. The finish is long and refreshing, offering hints of caramel, tropical fruits, and a touch of bitter grape. It is a well-balanced and approachable whisky that showcases a unique terroir from Japan's southernmost distillery. ABV 40%.

This whisky's citrus and honey notes make it an ideal partner for fresh seafood, particularly sashimi and grilled fish. It also pairs exceptionally well with creamy cheeses like Camembert or mild goat's cheese.
