Hennessy XO (Extra Old) is a prestigious cognac originating from the Cognac region of France. The House of Hennessy was founded in 1765 by Richard Hennessy, an Irish officer who served in the army of King Louis XV. Created in 1870 by Maurice Hennessy and Master Blender Emile Fillioux, Hennessy XO was the first cognac in the industry to bear the XO label, originally intended as a private blend for family and friends. Today, the Maison is part of the LVMH luxury group and remains the world's largest manufacturer of cognac.

Spirit Description

Hennessy XO is a complex masterpiece composed of a blend of up to 100 different eaux de vie, some aged for as long as 30 years in young oak barrels to achieve a balance of power and roundness.

• Colour: It possesses an intense and deep amber hue, which is a visual sign of its strength and long maturation.

• Aroma: The nose is rich and fragrant with notes of candied fruit, orange rind, butterscotch, and dried plums, underscored by subtle spices and vanilla.

• Palate: The palate experience is described as a seven-part odyssey, beginning with sweet candied fruit followed by a sensation of rising heat and a spicy edge of black pepper and chocolate.

• Body: It is full-bodied, robust, and voluptuous, offering a smooth yet powerful mouthfeel.

• Finish: The finish, referred to as the 'Infinite Echo', is exceptionally long and persistent, echoing omnipresent notes of oak, vanilla, and warm spice.

• ABV: Hennessy XO is bottled at 40%.
