Product description
Herradura Selección Suprema Tequila Extra Añejo is an ultra-premium flagship spirit originating from Amatitán in the Valles (Lowlands) region of Jalisco, Mexico. Produced at Casa Herradura at the historic Hacienda San José del Refugio (NOM 1119), it was unveiled in 1995 as the distillery's first official Extra Añejo expression. Recognizing the depth achievable through long maturation, Herradura cemented this bottle as an icon of luxury tequila crafting, designed to rival the complexity of fine aged cognacs and rare whiskies.
Spirit Description
Herradura Selección Suprema is crafted from 100% estate-grown Blue Weber agaves harvested after reaching peak maturity. The agaves are slow-roasted in traditional brick ovens for 26 hours and fermented naturally with wild yeasts before undergoing double distillation in copper pot stills. The spirit is then aged for 49 months (over four years) in American white oak barrels, far exceeding the three-year legal requirement for the Extra Añejo category.
Colour: Deep golden caramel to rich dark amber with mahogany highlights.
Aroma: Intensely aromatic and layered, opening with rich cooked agave, warm cinnamon, dried fruits, tobacco leaf, and toasted oak, followed by dark chocolate, vanilla bean, and delicate floral notes of rose petal.
Palate: Remarkably rich, balanced, and decadent on the entry. Upfront notes of roasted agave, butterscotch, and sweet vanilla give way to toasted oak, spiced pecans, dried citrus peel, and gentle baking spices.
Body: Full-bodied with a heavy, silky, and coating viscosity that delivers a lush mouthfeel.
Finish: Long, creamy, and warming, tapering off with persistent toasted oak, sweet vanilla, soft pepper, and lingering caramel warmth.
ABV: Bottled at 40% (80 Proof).
