Product description

Founded by enigmatic vintner Jayson Woodbridge, Hundred Acre is synonymous with uncompromising luxury, micro-lot precision, and ultra-rated Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. Woodbridge approaches winemaking as a pursuit of absolute perfection, farming ruthlessly for low yields and fermenting single-block parcels with near-obsessive detail.

The Ark Vineyard, located on the slopes of Howell Mountain in the St. Helena AVA, sits on an ancient, volcanic ring of glass, obsidian, and red clay soils. Planted across nine distinct micro-blocks, this vineyard yields Cabernet Sauvignon renowned for its brooding, glass-staining density, extraordinary minerality, and seamless, infinite finish.

Wine Description

The Hundred Acre Cabernet Sauvignon 'Ark Vineyard' 2022 pours an opaque, pitch-black purple with a vibrant violet rim. The aromatics are explosive and deeply layered, unleashing a powerful bouquet of crème de cassis, wild blueberry liqueur, black cherries, and espresso roast, intertwined with crushed obsidian, graphite, warm iron ore, licorice, and fragrant violet notes.

On the palate, the 2022 Ark is full-bodied, multi-dimensional, and towering in structure, yet possesses the signature Hundred Acre silkiness. Layers of opulent dark fruit and sweet cocoa powder are framed by ultra-fine, pixelated tannins and remarkable underlying energy. Aged in 100% new French oak for approximately 30 months, the wood is entirely absorbed into the fruit weight, resulting in a seamless, weightless mouthfeel that coat the palate endlessly.

While approachable in its youth due to its plush tannin management, the 2022 Ark is built to age gracefully in the cellar for 30 to 40+ years.

Food Pairing

A wine of this magnitude, power, and structural concentration demands the richest, most savory cuts of meat. Ideal pairings include dry-aged Tomahawk ribeye steak, slow-braised beef short ribs with black truffle reduction, roasted venison loin, or grilled Wagyu beef. It also pairs exceptionally well with rich, earthy dishes featuring porcini mushrooms, bone marrow, or long-aged hard cheeses like 36-month Comté.
