Hyde Irish Whiskey, named in honor of Ireland's first president, Douglas Hyde, is renowned for its dedication to traditional Irish whiskey craftsmanship. The Hyde No. 5 The Áras Cask 1860 is a single grain Irish whiskey that exemplifies this commitment.
Whiskey Description
Hyde No. 5 is a triple-distilled, pure grain Irish whiskey, originally distilled in a traditional Coffey copper column still from pure corn (maize) grain. It is made in small batches and matured in U.S. ex-bourbon casks for six years, followed by a nine-month finish in French ex-Burgundy red wine oak casks from the Côte d’Or. This maturation process imparts a ruby-red color and a complex flavor profile. On the nose, it offers notes of sweet custard, apple peel, red berries, and orange blossom honey. The palate is creamy and nutty, with a finish that is long and satisfying.
Serving Suggestions
This whiskey is best enjoyed neat or with a splash of water to fully appreciate its intricate flavors. It also serves as an excellent base for classic cocktails such as the Old Fashioned or Manhattan, where its depth adds a sophisticated twist. Pairing it with dark chocolate or a fine cigar can further enhance the tasting experience, highlighting the whiskey's depth and character.
