Product description

This structured and 'authoritative' red wine originates from Italy, within the prestigious Toscana I.G.T. designation of the upper Maremma region, bordering Bolgheri. Il Pino di Biserno serves as the iconic second wine of Tenuta di Biserno, an elite estate established in 2001 by Marchese Lodovico Antinori—the legendary founder of Ornellaia and Masseto. The property operates under a winemaking philosophy that marries New World precision with coastal Tuscan identity, executing a site-specific viticultural strategy overseen by master consultant Michel Rolland. The mature vines are rooted in a complex terroir matrix of silt, alluvial clay, and Bolgheri conglomerate gravels, where the maritime breezes of the Tyrrhenian Sea naturally moderate summer temperatures to lock in remarkable varietal complexity.

Wine Description

Il Pino di Biserno presents a deep, opaque ruby-purple appearance with bright violet reflections shimmering at the rim. Its sensory profile is exceptionally complex, rich, and extroverted, opening with a pronounced bouquet of dark black cherries, crème de cassis, and wild blackberries, beautifully layered with fragrant notes of Mediterranean scrub (macchia), freshly roasted espresso beans, dark cacao, and a distinct crack of black pepper. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, dense, and seamlessly layered, showcasing a voluptuous core of dark plum preserves and wild mountain berries. It is characterized by its outstanding, vibrant backbone of mineral acidity that perfectly lifts the rich fruit extraction. The mouthfeel is muscular yet beautifully polished, driven by fine-grained, velvety tannins that glide into a lengthy finish highlighted by lingering notes of graphite, cedarwood, and smoky tobacco leaf.
