Illimis, the Latin word for 'clarity', defines the winemaking philosophy of founder and viticulturist Lucinda Heyns. She believes in minimal intervention and allowing the wine to express its origin with clarity, finesse, and complexity, seeing the wine as a 'window to where its vineyard is rooted'. Heyns established Illimis Wines in 2015 after studying viticulture in South Africa and gaining experience in California and Italy.

The Illimis Pinotage 2023 is a 'lighter style of Pinotage' made from 100% Pinotage grapes. On the nose, it offers 'opulent mashed berries, juicy plum, and violets' with 'whispers of earthy and spicy undertones'. The palate is described as 'alluring' and 'bright', unfolding with inviting charm. It transitions the earthy and spicy undertones onto the palate.
