Product description

This structured and 'crystalline' white wine originates from New Zealand, within the prestigious Hawke's Bay region on the eastern coast of the North Island. Produced by Invivo Wines an innovative and acclaimed estate co-founded in 2008 by Tim Lightbourne and winemaker Rob Cameron this benchmark Chardonnay showcases the premier sub-regions of Hawke's Bay, including the Gimblett Gravels, Bridge Pa Triangle, and coastal Te Awanga. The vines are rooted in diverse alluvial soils consisting of free-draining river gravel, silt loam, and clay-limestone. Hawke's Bay’s sunny, warm maritime climate is tempered by afternoon sea breezes, allowing Chardonnay to achieve generous fruit concentration, stone-fruit richness, and textural depth while retaining a crisp, mouthwatering natural acidity.

Wine Description

Invivo Hawke's Bay Chardonnay presents a luminous, pale straw-gold color in the glass with bright greenish-gold reflections along the rim. Its sensory profile is exceptionally fresh, high-toned, and complex, delivering an elegant, balanced, and precisely focused expression of North Island Chardonnay. The bouquet opens with an inviting display of ripe white peach, nectarine, and yellow orchard apples, seamlessly layered with complex underlays of roasted cashew, lemon curd, grilled pineapple, toasted brioche, and a subtle line of crushed stone minerality. On the palate, the wine is medium-to-full-bodied, supple, and athletic, showcasing a succulent core of stone fruit, candied citrus peel, and creamy autolytic warmth. It is characterized by its outstanding inner energy and an incisive, mouthwatering backbone of natural acidity that effortlessly lifts its mid-palate fruit extract. The mouthfeel is broad, silky, and linear, framed by subtle oak integration that glides into a long, dry, and mineral-driven finish accented by persistent notes of white peach, toasted almond, and lemon zest.
