More Information
Product description
This single-estate organic French grape brandy originates from the heart of Charente in southwestern France, produced by Maison Jean-Luc Pasquet in Éraville, located in the prestigious Grande Champagne sub-region (Premier Cru de Cognac). Certified organic since 1998, the estate is led by Jean and Amy Pasquet. L'Organic Folle Blanche is a rare single-varietal expression crafted exclusively from 100% Folle Blanche grapes—a historic Cognac variety known for intense floral aromatics and high natural acidity. While standard commercial bottlings are diluted down to 43.5% ABV, this Single Cask expression is bottled at a higher strength of 48.6% ABV (97.2 proof) in a 700 ml bottle. Distilled in copper Charentais pot stills and aged for roughly 10 years in French oak barrels (low new-oak proportion), it is non-chill filtered and bottled with zero additives, caramel, or sugar (boisé).
Spirit Description
This Cognac displays a luminous golden-amber hue with bright topaz flashes in the glass. On the nose, the elevated 48.6% ABV amplifies its aromatic intensity, bursting with vibrant white jasmine, acacia blossom, lemon verbena, and orange peel, backed by candied white peach, fresh ginger root, and subtle vanilla bean. On the palate, it feels noticeably richer, weightier, and more concentrated than the standard release, delivering an immediate wave of candied citrus oils, yellow plum, and sweet pear before developing a crisp, chalky mineral spine and warm white pepper spice. The higher proof gives the delicate Folle Blanche fruit a far more powerful, structured mouthfeel without introducing harsh heat or wood bitterness. The finish is remarkably long, warm, and persistent, trailing off with white floral honey, citrus zest, light nutmeg, and a clean mineral warmth.
Accolades
Jean-Luc Pasquet’s L'Organic Folle Blanche line holds top-tier critical acclaim among master sommeliers, spirits judges, and Cognac purists. Scoring 93+ points across outlets like Wine Enthusiast, WhiskyFun, and Difford's Guide, reviewers frequently praise the Pasquet family for single-varietal preservation. Spirits critics particularly celebrate these higher-proof single-cask releases, noting that keeping the spirit near cask strength at 48.6% ABV allows the intense floral esters and mineral drive of Grande Champagne chalk soil to express themselves with uncompromised vigor.
