Product description
This structured and 'crystalline' white wine originates from Italy, within the prized Venezia Giulia IGT appellation in the far northeastern region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia. Produced by the world-renowned Jermann estate, founded in 1881 by Anton Jermann, this cuvée represents a visionary fusion of traditional Germanic varietal purity and Friulian technical finesse. Sourced from high-elevation vineyard sites in the rolling hills of Dolegna del Collio and Farra d’Isonzo, the vines are rooted in ponca a highly prized Eocene soil formation composed of alternating layers of calcareous marl and sandstone. The microclimate here is exceptionally favorable for Riesling: cool alpine breezes from the Julian Alps preserve laser-like natural acidity, while warm daytime currents from the Adriatic Sea promote full, complex grape ripening.
Wine Description
Jermann 'Afix' Riesling presents a brilliant, pale straw-yellow appearance in the glass with light greenish-silver reflections. Its sensory profile is exceptionally fresh, high-toned, and complex, delivering a masterfully precise and aromatic expression of Italian-grown Riesling. The bouquet opens with a captivating display of white peach, green apple, and fresh lime zest, seamlessly layered with complex undertones of jasmine, white flowers, lemongrass, candied ginger, and a subtle line of petrol and crushed flint minerality. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, sleek, and intensely focused, showcasing a vibrant core of citrus oils, tart stone fruits, and green pear. It is characterized by its outstanding inner energy and an incisive, mouthwatering backbone of natural acidity that cuts cleanly through the mid-palate density. The mouthfeel is supple yet weightless, carrying into a long, bone-dry, and mineral-driven finish accented by lingering notes of lemon curd, cold stone, and grapefruit peel.
This high-definition varietal expression is 100% Riesling (Riesling Renano), harvested by hand from low-yielding estate vineyards. Following a gentle cold pressing of whole clusters to preserve pure primary fruit character, the juice underwent slow, temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel vats. To safeguard its crisp linear tension and pure varietal aromatics, the wine did not undergo malolactic conversion and was matured on its fine lees in stainless steel tanks for approximately six months before bottling. It reaches an effortlessly balanced, food-friendly alcohol content (ABV) of 13.0% and is finished bone-dry.
