Product description
This structured and 'crystalline' white wine originates from Italy, within the esteemed Venezia Giulia IGT appellation in the far northeastern corner of Friuli-Venezia Giulia. Founded in 1881 by Anton Jermann, the estate reached international stardom in the late 20th century under the visionary leadership of Silvio Jermann, who revolutionized white winemaking in Italy by marrying low-intervention respect for terroir with hyper-precise cellar practices. Sourced from estate vineyards situated across the rolling hills of Farra d’Isonzo and Dolegna del Collio, the vines are rooted in Flysch di Cormòns a prized Eocene soil formation composed of alternating layers of calcareous marl and sandstone (ponca). The region’s unique alpine-continental microclimate, cooled by winds sweeping down from the Julian Alps and warmed by breezes off the Adriatic Sea, allows the highly aromatic Traminer Aromatico (Gewürztraminer) grapes to achieve profound aromatic depth while locking in crisp natural acidity.
Wine Description
Jermann Traminer Aromatico presents a brilliant, bright straw-yellow color in the glass with shimmering golden highlights. Its sensory profile is exceptionally fresh, high-toned, and complex, delivering an intensely fragrant and pristine expression of northern Italian aromatic winemaking. The bouquet opens with a captivating, multi-faceted display of fresh lychees, white peach, and passion fruit, seamlessly layered with floral undertones of rose petals, jasmine, yellow apple, and exotic nuances of candied ginger, clove, and grapefruit zest. On the palate, the wine is medium-to-full-bodied, elegant, and precisely focused, showcasing a lush, round core of tropical fruits, sweet citrus oils, and stone fruit. It is characterized by its outstanding inner energy and an incisive, mouthwatering backbone of natural acidity that balances its headnumbing aromatics and mid-palate density. The mouthfeel is broad, smooth, and supple, carrying into an extraordinarily long, dry, and mineral finish accented by lingering notes of orange blossom, subtle white pepper, and cool stone minerality.
This high-definition varietal expression is 100% Traminer Aromatico, harvested by hand from low-yielding, estate-selected vineyards. Following a gentle pressing of whole clusters and a short skin-contact cold soak to extract pristine aromatic compounds, the juice underwent slow, temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel tanks. To preserve pure primary fruit and floral aromatics, the wine did not undergo malolactic conversion and was aged on its fine lees in stainless steel vats for several months prior to bottling. It reaches a seamlessly integrated, food-friendly alcohol content (ABV) of 13.0% and is finished bone-dry.
