Product description
France’s Northern Rhône Valley is celebrated for its exceptional Syrah, and the Saint Joseph appellation is a key contributor to this legacy. Jean-Louis Chave, whose family roots in winemaking trace back to 1481, crafts the ‘Offerus’ under the label JL Chave Selection. Unlike the domaine wines grown on their own historic Hermitage and Saint Joseph parcels, Offerus is a négociant project where Jean-Louis carefully selects grapes from top growers, ensuring the wine embodies both his exacting standards and the distinctive character of Saint Joseph.
Wine Description
A vivid ruby in the glass, the 2023 Offerus captures the essence of Northern Rhône Syrah. The nose is lifted with notes of ripe blackberries, crushed violets, cracked pepper, and subtle hints of smoked meats. On the palate, it delivers layers of dark fruit, olive tapenade, and a mineral streak that speaks to the granitic soils. Medium-bodied with fine, powdery tannins, it shows impeccable balance and freshness. The finish is long and savoury, with lingering spice and floral nuances.
Food Pairing
Try it with grilled lamb chops with rosemary, peppered duck breast, or a hearty mushroom risotto. This pairing highlights the wine’s depth and character, enhancing the interplay between its savoury notes and refined tannins.
