This red wine originates from the United States, specifically from the Royal Slope subregion of Washington State. Produced by K Vintners, it was first released in 2006 by winemaker Charles Smith and became the first Washington wine to receive a perfect 100 point score from Wine Enthusiast. The winery's philosophy focuses on single vineyard Syrahs that utilise whole cluster fermentation and native yeasts to create a powerful, authentic expression of the site.

Wine Description

Royal City Syrah displays a deep ruby or magenta purple colour. The nose is highly complex and aromatic, offering a savoury mix of cured meats, black olives, and iron alongside dark fruits like blackberry and plum, with floral hints of lavender and anise. On the palate, the wine is full bodied and texturally rich, featuring a silky mouthfeel balanced by firm mineral tension, vibrant acidity, and a near everlasting finish. It is 100% Syrah with an ABV typically between 14.5% and 15%. The wine is not certified organic, and the optimal drinking window often spans 15 to 20 years.

The intense savoury and meaty profile of this Syrah makes it an ideal match for hearty red meat dishes. It pairs exceptionally well with grilled lamb chops, smoked brisket, or venison seasoned with rosemary and black pepper.
