Kinokawa Nigori Sake - 720 ml

Founded in 1839, the brewery underwent a significant transformation in 1980 when four local Nagasaki breweries—Chogoya, Reimei Shuzo, Unzen, and Kuretake—merged to form the modern Kinokawa. Managed by representative Shinsuke Seto and master brewer Hirotaka Tanaka, the brewery is dedicated to crafting sakes that celebrate local Nagasaki ingredients and pair seamlessly with the region's abundant seafood.

Description

This premium cloudy sake presents an opaque straw colour with visible rice solids that provide a signature milky appearance. The nose is aromatic and layered, revealing scents of Granny Smith apple, nectarine, and sliced banana alongside savory hints of pound cake, marinated mushrooms, and graham cracker. On the palate, it features a satiny, off-dry medium body with a bright and creamy texture. The experience concludes with a medium-length finish characterized by refreshing notes of aloe, cucumber cordial, and horchata. ABV 15%.

Food Pairing

The creamy and slightly fruity profile of this nigori makes it an excellent match for spicy East Asian cuisine, where the rice solids help mellow the heat of chilies. It also pairs well with savory dishes like grilled chicken or pork, and serves as a delightful companion to desserts such as mochi ice cream, dark chocolate, or fruit-based tarts. For a local experience, serve it chilled alongside fresh Nagasaki seafood.
