Product description

La Chapelle d'Ausone 2012 hails from the Saint Emilion Grand Cru appellation in the Bordeaux region of France. This wine is the second label of the historic Château Ausone, where Alain Vauthier and his daughter Pauline maintain a reputation for compulsive perfectionism on their decomposed limestone slopes.

Wine Description

This 2012 vintage presents a dense ruby purple colour and an expansive sensory profile. The nose is highly aromatic, revealing refined layers of plum, blueberry, and black raspberry, accented by spring flowers and the estate's signature note of powdered chalk. On the palate, the wine is medium to full bodied with a silky yet structured texture, featuring ripe tannins and a fresh, vibrant acidity. Stylistically, it displays remarkable purity and a long, lingering finish that balances rich fruit with mineral complexity.

Accolades

  • James Suckling - 95 points

  • Robert Parker's Wine Advocate - 93 points

Food Pairing

This wine's generous fruit profile and velvety tannins make it an excellent companion for grilled meat dishes, such as herb-crusted lamb or prime rib. It also pairs beautifully with roasted poultry or a selection of aged hard cheeses.
