Áster is the dedicated Ribera del Duero estate of the legendary La Rioja Alta, S.A. group, established to apply their century of winemaking expertise to the Tinta del País (Tempranillo) grape. The winery's philosophy for the Crianza is to create a wine that balances the natural power and dark fruit of Ribera del Duero with the elegance and refined oak integration for which the parent company is famous.

Wine Description

The La Rioja Alta Áster Crianza 2020 presents an intense black-cherry colour with a bright garnet rim. The sensory profile is complex and well-defined, featuring an aromatic nose of ripe blackcurrants and raspberries, layered with sophisticated notes of clove, roasted coffee beans, and sweet liquorice. On the palate, the wine is medium-to-full-bodied and balanced, showcasing creamy tannins and a refreshing acidity that provides excellent structure. It is characterized by its "Atlantic" freshness a signature of the estate's high-altitude vineyards leading to a long, balsamic finish with hints of dark chocolate and mineral earth. This 100% Tinta del País typically has an ABV of 14.5% and was aged for 22 months in French oak (approx. 50% new), followed by extensive refinement in the bottle before release.
