Product description

Larceny Straight Bourbon Barrel Proof is an allocated, uncut, and non-chill filtered wheated bourbon produced by Heaven Hill Distillery in Bardstown, Kentucky. First introduced in January 2020, it serves as the barrel-strength counterpart to the standard Larceny Small Batch. The brand pays homage to the legendary John E. Fitzgerald, a treasury agent who used his keys to steal prime barrels of wheated bourbon from government bonded warehouses. Larceny shares the historic, soft "Old Fitzgerald Distillate" (O.F.D.) mash bill with Heaven Hill’s ultra-premium Old Fitzgerald Bottled-in-Bond decanter series.

Spirit Description

Larceny Barrel Proof is pulled from barrels aged between 6 and 8 years. Because it is bottled directly from the cask without water dilution, the alcohol volume and specific flavour profiles vary noticeably by release. Heaven Hill issues three distinct small-batch versions every year (in January, May, and September) using an explicit batch code system (e.g., A125 represents the first batch of January 2025; C924 signifies the third batch of September 2024).

  • Colour: Polished oak to deep copper-amber.

  • Aroma: Intensely rich and sweet. The nose opens with a classic combination of caramel apple, maple-glazed French toast, hard butterscotch candy, and rich cocoa powder, underscored by toasted sourdough bread and a sharp hit of ethanol heat.

  • Palate: Viscous, dense, and mouth-coating. Dark chocolate, burnt caramels, honey-roasted nuts, and baking spices mingle with pockets of dried dark fruits, tart red raspberries, and bready vanilla extract.

  • Body: Medium-to-full-bodied with an oily richness that allows the bold wheated sweetness to stand up directly against the fiery alcohol content.

  • Finish: Long, warming, and progressively drying. It tapers off with a lingering wave of cinnamon spice, espresso bean, barrel char, leather, and dry oak wood.

  • ABV: Varies by batch, typically hovering between 60% and 63.3% (120 to 126.6 Proof).
