Product description

Originating from France in the Burgundy region, specifically within the Nuits Saint Georges AOC Village appellation in the Côte de Nuits, Maison Louis Latour Nuits Saint Georges Villages 2023 represents a classic, robust, and earth-driven expression of Pinot Noir. Founded in 1797, Maison Louis Latour is one of Burgundy's most iconic historic negociant houses. The town of Nuits Saint Georges gives its name to the famous Côte de Nuits sub-region, with vines planted on east-facing slopes composed of deep limestone, marl, and silt-rich clay soils. Under the direction of the winemaking team in Beaune, the winemaking philosophy incorporates traditional open-vat temperature-controlled fermentation, partial whole-cluster inclusion, and maturation for 10 to 12 months in medium-toasted French oak barrels crafted at Latour's own cooperage. The result is a deeply structured village wine that bridges wild dark fruit power, earthy complexity, and classic Burgundian polish.

Wine Description

The wine presents a deep, luminous garnet red colour with dark crimson reflections along the rim. An expressive, highly perfumed bouquet opens with noble aromas of black cherry, wild blackberry, black plum, and cassis, interwoven with sophisticated notes of forest floor, game, liquorice, smoked meats, crushed limestone, and warm cedar spice. On the palate, it is medium-to-full bodied, firm, and energetic, delivering concentrated flavours of dark berries, dark chocolate, and savory mineral earth, all supported by a bright, mouthwatering spine of natural acidity. Framed by rich, fine-grained, muscular tannins and a dense mid-palate structure, it concludes with a long, persistent finish marked by lingering red and dark fruits, leather, and a clean gravelly grip. Composed of 100% Pinot Noir, this 2023 release offers an optimal drinking window of 2026–2036. Stylistically, it effortlessly combines Nuits Saint Georges structure, wild savory aromatics, and the lush, pure fruit character of the 2023 vintage.
