This single malt Scotch whisky originates from Scotland, produced in the Island region on the Isle of Mull. Crafted at the historic Tobermory Distillery—founded in 1798 in the picturesque port town of Tobermory—the "Ledaig" name is used specifically for the distillery's heavily peated single malt expressions. Distilled in 2012 and aged for 9 years, this limited release underwent full maturation in hand-selected French Bordeaux red wine casks, combining the distillery's signature maritime smoke with rich, fruity red wine cask influence.

Spirit Description

This single malt presents a deep copper-rose hue in the glass. The nose is bold, aromatic, and smoky, opening with intense wafts of bonfire peat, smoldering ash, and medicinal sea air, balanced by sweet red berry compote, dark cherries, and subtle oak tannins. On the palate, it is full-bodied with a rich, oily texture, delivering robust flavours of smoked meats, earthy peat, and charred wood, beautifully contrasted by juicy plum, blackcurrant, dark chocolate, and warming baking spices. The finish is long, complex, and lingering, leaving a dry, savory impression of peat smoke, red wine spice, and salty sea spray. Bottled at a high strength of 56.8% ABV without chill-filtration or artificial coloring, it offers a dramatic, rich, and heavily peated profile.
