Product description

This distinguished red blend is produced in the Okanagan Valley region of British Columbia, Canada, primarily within the Naramata Bench subregion. Little Engine Wines was founded in 2011 by Steven and Nicole French, who began by purchasing the Corbishley Vineyard and have since expanded to multiple estate properties. The winery's philosophy is centred on the pursuit of excellence through low-yield farming and a minimalist approach in the cellar, allowing each wine to express the unique terroir of its origin.

Wine Description

The Little Engine Union Red Blend typically displays a mid to dark colour. Its sensory profile is marked by enticing aromas of cassis, bramble berries, and roasted meats, complemented by notes of dried herbs and creamy vanilla. On the palate, the wine is fruit-forward with flavours of blueberry, cranberry, and cassis, alongside subtle nuances of tobacco leaf and roasted red peppers. The texture is structured yet approachable, featuring velvety tannins and a bright acidity that leads into a graceful, lingering finish. The varietal composition varies by vintage but generally centres on Merlot (approximately 70–78%), rounded out with Cabernet Franc, Malbec, and occasionally Cabernet Sauvignon.

Food Pairing

This versatile blend is well-suited for a variety of hearty dishes. Suggested pairings include roasted meats, which complement the wine's savoury notes, as well as casual favourites like burgers and pizza. Its structured profile also makes it an excellent match for pasta dishes with rich sauces.
