Product description

Los Siete Misterios Doba-Yej Mezcal originates from Mexico, in the southern region within the subregion of Oaxaca. Founded in 2010 by brothers Julio and Eduardo Mestre, the brand was created with a mission to preserve traditional mezcal making customs and support local master distillers. Named 'Doba-Yej'—the ancient Zapotec word for the Espadín agave—this artisanal expression represents the house's dedication to authentic, small batch craftsmanship.

Spirit Description

This artisanal young mezcal presents a crystal clear, luminous appearance with bright silvery flashes in the glass. The aromatic sensory profile features a vibrant, complex nose driven by cooked agave, crisp citrus notes of lemon and grapefruit, and floral violets, complemented by subtle baking spices and delicate woodsmoke. On the palate, the body is smooth and satiny, revealing an elegant balance of sweet caramel, fresh herbs, orange peel, and earthy agave character. The finish is remarkably long, dry, and balanced, leaving trailing hints of mineral salinity, light pepper, and a gentle, lingering smoke. This unaged spirit is traditionally bottled at an alcohol by volume ranging between 44% and 45%.

Accolades

As one of the standout artisanal offerings in the Los Siete Misterios portfolio, this expression has earned critical praise from spirits judges and mixologists worldwide. It is widely celebrated as a premier dual purpose mezcal, recognized across industry publications for its exceptional balance whether enjoyed neat or in craft cocktails.

Food Pairing

The vibrant citrus brightness, earthy agave depth, and delicate smokiness of this mezcal make it an outstanding companion for authentic Mexican and Latin American cuisine. It pairs brilliantly with fresh sea bass ceviche, fish tacos topped with lime, or grilled pork carnitas where the citrus cuts through the richness. For a lighter option, it can be served alongside fresh goat cheese, guacamole with salted tortilla chips, or tropical fruit drizzled with chili powder.
