Product description

Originating from France in the Burgundy region, specifically within the Pouilly Fuissé Premier Cru AOC appellation in the Mâconnais, Maison Louis Latour Pouilly Fuissé Premier Cru 2023 represents a landmark elevation in southern Burgundy white winemaking. Founded in 1797, Maison Louis Latour is one of Burgundy's most iconic historic negociant houses. Following the historic 2020 official classification of Premier Cru status in Pouilly Fuissé, this cuvée is sourced from select Premier Cru climats characterized by steep slopes and clay-limestone soils rich in Jurassic chalk. Under the direction of head winemaker Jean-Charles Thomas, the winemaking philosophy incorporates traditional temperature controlled stainless steel fermentation followed by 8 to 10 months of maturation in medium toasted French oak barrels (approximately 15% new) crafted at Latour's own cooperage in Beaune. The result is an opulent, rich Chardonnay that strikes a delicate balance between sunny Mâconnais generosity, refined oak complexity, and vivid limestone minerality.

Wine Description

The wine presents a brilliant, clear pale gold colour with bright greenish reflections along the rim. An expressive, highly complex bouquet opens with noble aromas of ripe yellow peach, poached pear, lemon curd, and white nectarine, interwoven with subtle notes of acacia flower, toasted hazelnut, vanilla bean, fresh butter, and crushed limestone. On the palate, it is medium-to-full bodied, satiny, and energetic, delivering concentrated flavours of stone fruit, citrus oil, and saline mineral earth, all supported by a bright, mouthwatering spine of natural acidity. Framed by a creamy, coat-the-mouth mid-palate texture and seamless oak integration, it concludes with a long, persistent finish marked by lingering lemon peel, toasted almond, and a clean chalky mineral grip. Composed of 100% Chardonnay, this 2023 release offers an optimal drinking window of 2025–2033. Stylistically, it combines Premier Cru prestige, luxurious texture, and the lush, ripe elegance of the 2023 Burgundian vintage.
