Product description
This structured and 'authoritative' red wine originates from Italy, within the prestigious Toscana I.G.T. designation of Montalcino, Tuscany. Tenuta Luce was born in 1995 as a historic, visionary joint venture between Marchese Vittorio Frescobaldi and Robert Mondavi, who sought to challenge regional conventions by creating the first-ever premium blend of Sangiovese and Merlot in the cradle of Brunello. Today, the estate is wholly directed by Lamberto Frescobaldi, operating under a winemaking philosophy that values uncompromised fruit concentration, opulent textures, and profound aging capability. The estate’s high-elevation vineyards reach up to 420 metres on the southwest-facing slopes of Montalcino, where well-drained galestro (schistous clay) and sandstone topographies yield small, concentrated berries with excellent natural acid balance and structural longevity.
Wine Description
Tenuta Luce presents an incredibly deep, intense ruby-red appearance with highly concentrated violet hues shimmering at the rim. Its sensory profile is exceptionally layered, complex, and expressive, opening with a seductive, high-toned bouquet of wild blackberries, mulberries, and crushed blueberries, beautifully woven with fragrant notes of dried rose petals, incense, sandalwood, and a light touch of mocha. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, dense, and remarkably plush, showcasing a voluptuous core of dark berry preserves, black cherry purée, and sweet licorice. The mouthfeel is broad and velvety, driven by exceptionally polished, silk-smooth tannins that glide into a near-endless, spice-infused finish accented by lingering undertones of tobacco leaf, dried Mediterranean shrub, and toasted oak.
