Product description

This structured and 'seductive' red wine originates from Italy, within the renowned Brunello di Montalcino D.O.C.G. appellation of Tuscany. Sourced primarily from the prized, 11-hectare 'Madonnino' vineyard plot, Tenuta Luce was originally born out of a visionary meeting between Vittorio Frescobaldi and Robert Mondavi to transcend traditional boundaries. The estate operates under a philosophy that honors the unique southwestern quadrant of Montalcino, where distinct galestro (schistose) soils impart a perfect harmony of power and elegance.

Wine Description

The 2020 Luce Brunello di Montalcino presents a shimmering, radiant ruby-red colour. Its sensory profile is multifaceted and deeply elegant, unfolding an inviting bouquet of fresh raspberries, strawberries, and dried black cherries layered with sweet violets, white smoke, cedar shavings, and smooth spices. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and vibrant, showcasing concentrated pure cherry and plum flavours beautifully balanced by a brisk, mouthwatering acidity and firm, chewy tannins. This dry, 100% Sangiovese blend possesses exceptional tension and focus, leading into a long, satisfying finish accented by lingering notes of citrus zest, savory herbs, and a subtle edge of wood spice. The wine reached an alcohol content (ABV) of 15% and was vinified in concrete vessels with indigenous yeasts before undergoing 24 months of maturation in large Slavonian oak barrels. While the estate manages its parcels with strict respect for the integrity of the land, this bottling is not certified organic.

Accolades

97 Points - James Suckling -"Beautifully perfumed aromas of violets, cedar and fresh raspberries with some strawberries, too. Full-bodied with firm, chewy tannins that add tension and focus, as well as a crunchy undertone. Needs three or four years to soften. Best after 2028."
