Luxardo Bitter Bianco – 750 ml

Luxardo Bitter Bianco is produced in Italy, in the Veneto region within the subregion of Torreglia. The company was founded in 1821 by Girolamo Luxardo in Zara, a city on the Dalmatian coast, to commercially produce his wife Maria Canevari’s refined maraschino liqueur. After the original distillery was destroyed during World War II, the family re-established the business in 1946 in Torreglia, where it remains independently owned and operated by the sixth generation of the Luxardo family.

Spirit Description

This clear, pale golden amber liqueur is a revival of an original 1930s family recipe that was recreated and refined using modern distillation techniques. It is crafted from a distilled infusion of bitter herbs and aromatic plants, including gentian, rhubarb, mint, marjoram, and bitter orange, with an final infusion of wormwood to enhance its bitterness and provide an ivory hue. The nose features bold aromas of orchard fruit, zesty citrus, and white petals accompanied by herbal notes and warm spices like cinnamon and clove. On the palate, it is bittersweet and round, offering layers of ripe pear, orange, and lemon balanced by rooty bitterness and a hint of honey sweetness. The body is smooth and oily, leading to a long, persistent finish of bitter herbs, white pepper, and spice. Luxardo Bitter Bianco is typically bottled at 30% ABV.
