Mac Forbes Syrah 2023

This wine originates from Australia, within Victoria's cool-climate Yarra Valley region. Founded in 2004 by winemaker Mac Forbes, the winery focuses on subregional expressions that highlight the distinct microclimates and soils across the Yarra Valley. The winemaking philosophy centers on sustainable viticulture, wild fermentations, minimal intervention, and early harvesting to showcase freshness, structure, and site purity.

Wine Description

This vibrant, dark red-cherry hued wine opens with expressive aromas of red plum, graphite, florals, and freshly cracked red and black peppercorns. The palate delivers a medium body featuring flavors of poached red plums, cherries, and savory spices, anchored by firm, chalky clay tannins and a lively natural acidity. The finish is long, energetic, and fine, highlighted by lifted notes of white pepper and dried herbs. The varietal composition is 100% Syrah, vinified with 10% whole bunches and aged in large and small old oak barrels. It has an alcohol content of 12% ABV and is not certified organic.
