Product description
This artisanal red vermouth originates from Italy, within the Piedmont region, and is classified under the Vermouth di Torino D.O.C. standards. The brand Domenico Ulrich was established in 1854 by botanist Domenico Ulrich and became a leader in processing aromatic herbs in Italy. In 2016, the Marolo Distillery in Alba revived the historic brand by carefully recovering and studying ancient family recipes. The distillery’s philosophy for this line is to rediscover the flavours of the Belle Époque using only Piedmontese and Italian grown raw materials.
Wine Description
The Marolo Ulrich Rosso Vermouth presents a deep amber colour. Its sensory profile is described as fresh, delicately spiced, and balsamic. The nose reveals a complex blend of over 30 alpine herbs and spices, with layers of wormwood, orange peel, clove, and dried herbs accented by subtle floral notes. On the palate, the vermouth is velvety and full-bodied, showcasing a balanced interplay of sweet red fruit, bitter roots, baking spices, and a touch of cocoa. It is characterized by its use of 100% Cortese wine as a base and browned or 'burnt' sugar instead of caramel, which enhances the natural notes of bitter orange, gentian, and Piedmont lemon balm.
