Marques de Murrieta Reserva 2019

The history of Marqués de Murrieta is deeply intertwined with the very origin of Rioja winemaking. Don Luciano Murrieta, an immigrant who trained in Bordeaux, applied his knowledge to craft the first Bordeaux oak-influenced Rioja wine in 1852. His vision was to create a fine, age-worthy Rioja wine for export, making his legendary 1852 vintage the first fine Rioja wine shipped abroad.

Wine Description

On the nose, it is truly expressive with multiple layers of ripe red fruit, such as cherry, red plum, and strawberry, complemented by notes of black pepper, red tea, sandalwood, and gentle ageing. The palate is flavourful and fresh, offering a full-bodied experience where rich fruit balances bright acidity. Hints of cedar, tobacco leaf, earthiness, and spice add complexity. The wine exhibits supple and silky tannins that frame the structure. It is a balanced, curated, and elegant red with a long, fresh finish that leaves a lasting impression of structure and spice.
